Andrea Orth is an attorney with GrowIP Law Group LLC. Andrea’s practice includes patent and trademark prosecution and litigation for a range of technologies. Her past work includes obtaining, enforcing, and defending against patents related to the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, treatments, therapeutics, and inhalable products, as well as interdisciplinary fields involving engineering technologies and food technologies. Andrea also counsels clients on freedom to operate and landscape analysis concerning these technologies.

Like her colleagues at GrowIP, Andrea’s litigation experience involves varied technologies, including pharmaceutical and ANDA litigations, electronic trading software, ceiling fans, and residential proxy networks, among others. She also has experience handling ex parte reexaminations, interferences, and Inter Partes Reviews (IPRs) with success.

Before joining GrowIP, Andrea worked with her GrowIP partners at a prominent IP boutique in Chicago. Prior to embarking on her legal career, Andrea worked at the State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa developing molecular biology tests for infectious diseases and partnered with the CDC in developing protocols for various disease-related projects. Andrea also worked at Northwestern University and Iowa State University performing microbiology and molecular biology research on pathogenic bacteria and viruses. During law school, Andrea worked at the University of Iowa Research Foundation, where she determined patentability and commercial potential for inventions.

When she is not working, Andrea enjoys spending time with her family, running, and golfing. She fills up any free time with reading and is always in the process of planning new home improvement projects.
